05-01-08 Sorry it's been a while since we updated the site. So here's what's been going on and what's coming up. First of all, we want to give a huge Horror of '59 thank you to Dennis A. Bell from Lords of the Highway. Dennis filled in for Tommy Horror when we played Jump in the Sac on March 15th. Here's some pictures documenting the historic occasion. And I guess we never put any pics up from Jimmie Dale Killmore's first show with us back on January 5th, so check those out here. We've got some more reviews and interviews on the Dissections page. If you want to know what people are saying about 'The Golden Age of Sin' and the band in general, check it out. We're taking May off from gigs to work on some new songs (including some covers), but we've got a lot of cool shows in the works for this summer and fall, including a few trips out of Ohio. Be sure to check the Live Terror page or our Myspace page to keep up to date. First up is a great show at the Beachladn Tavern with Buffalo's Blowtops and Cleveland's own Scarlet Fever. DJs Scary Ellen, Michigan Mom, and Sade Wolfkitten will be spinning tunes between the bands. It's an all-ages show and admission is a mere six bucks, so don't miss it.
Then on July 19th we're going to be doing a special early outdoor show at Pat's in the Flats. The Punk Rock Picnic will get going at 5pm and feature great bands and great food. Right now other than us we have The Rub-Offs confirmed. We'll keep you posted as this comes together. That's about it for now. Stay Sick! Bob
02-05-08 Well the first reviews are in, and so far the critics seem to like 'The Golden Age of Sin'. You can read for yourself over on the "dissections" page. After you read what everyone has to say about our latest masterpiece, you'll no doubt want to head over to the merchandise page and order your very own copy through Paypal. Or if you're in the NE Ohio area head on over to My Mind's Eye Records on Madison Avenue in Lakewood or Square Records on West Market Street in Akron to pick up a copy. Or just buy a copy direct from us at one of our upcoming shows. We'll be at Annabell's in Akron on Saturday February 23rd
01-19-08 Bob Noxious here, wishing you all a great 2008. Lots going on in the Horror of 59 camp. First, we would like you all to welcome the newest member of Horror of 59. Thankfully we haven't lost anybody else, we've just decided to expand to a five piece. Joining us on second guitar is Mr. Tommy Roulette. If you've been to recent shows, you know I was playing second guitar on some songs, but we all just felt it was taking away from the energy of the shows having me just stand there in front of a mic stand. Aside from that, Tommy Roulette is a hell of a lot better than I am. So know we have two Tommys on guitar. Yeah, that won't get confusing. In other band member news, our bass player Jimbo has finally decided on a stage name for himself. He will henceforth be known as Jimmy Dale Killmore. Be sure to see the first show ever with our latest and greatest line-up on Saturday February 23rd at Annabell's in Akron, OH. Also on the bill will be Dropgun and The Professional Againsters. It's a 21 and over only show, and admission is free. So you say you want a copy of the new Horror of 59 album 'The Golden Age of Sin'? You say you don't live close enough to make it out to a show, and your local record store sucks and doesn't carry us? Fear not, because you can now order direct from us via Paypal for a mere $10 plus postage and handling. Just click on the album cover to get things rolling. Want something scary to look at? Check out the promo videos for "Die My Way" and "Post Mortem Riot" that our old buddy and founding member of the band Deke put together. They're on the Sickening Sounds page. Finally, Horror of 59 is nominated in the "Best Rockabilly/Garage Rock" category in the Cleveland Free Times Music Awards poll. Click here to help us spread the horror. The competition is stiff, but with your help we just might do it.
12-13-07 It's been just over 2 years since our debut album 'Screams From the Cellar' was released on Sonic Swirl Records. Now Horror of ‘59 is back with a brand new collection of cuts from the crypt, 'The Golden Age of Sin'. It’s an album that expands our sound while remaining true to our bloody beginnings. The album is co-released through Cleveland-based Shark Attack! Records and My Mind's Eye Records and features eye catching cover art by renowned artist Mitch O’Connell. 'The Golden Age of Sin' begins now! For 'The Golden Age of Sin' the band line-up is Bob “Noxious” Ignizio on vocals, Tommy Horror on guitar, Deke on bass, and Brent Bastard on drums. Since the recording of the album Deke has left the band, but not before he picked his own replacement in the person of Jimbo Hissem (formerly of the Slack Jawed Yokels).
Currently the album is available at My Mind's Eye Records in Lakewood and at our shows. You can also ask your favorite record store to order you a copy if they don't already have one in stock. Right now we have distribution through Revolver and Get Hip, and are working on getting more distributors. You can also order a copy directly from us by sending a check, money order, or well concealed cash in the amount of $10 (for Canada and the U.S.) or $15 (anywhere else in the world) to: Horror of 59 We also have swanky red shirts featuring the album artwork available in Large and Extra Large sizes for $12. Checks and money orders should be made payable to Horror of 59. We will have Paypal, CD Baby, digital downloads and other options available soon.
11-08-07 Good News, Bad News: CD Release Show November 24th First the good news.
The Golden Age of Sin, the second full length album from Horror of
59, will finally be coming out. It will be the first release
from Cleveland based Shark Attack Records (with some assistance from My
Mind's Eye Records). The CD release show will be Saturday
November 24th at The Jigsaw Saloon in
Now the bad news. We
in the band and a few friends have known for some time that Deke would be
leaving the group he started to move out of state. Sadly
that time has arrived. November 24th will be
Deke's last show with Horror of 59. Obviously the rest
of us hate to see Deke go, but with his blessing we will continue to spread
the horror for some time to come. Stepping into the bass
position will be Jimbo Hissem, formerly of The Slack Jawed Yokels and The
Shrill. So if you haven't been out to see us
lately, you really won't want to miss this show. Give
Deke a good send off, buy the new CD, and see M. Balmer haunt the stage
again all for a mere six bucks. I've also added a couple of new songs to the Myspace page. "Black Wedding" and "Die My Way" are the actual finished versions that will be on The Golden Age of Sin. Let us know what you think. Also as a special tribute to Deke and M. Balmer, I've dug up some oldies that very few people have ever heard. "The Thing in the Basement" was recorded for Screams From the Cellar but we wound up leaving it off the final album. And the version of "Graveyard Beyond the Woods" I've just added is the original demo version from 2004. At this point in time, Horror of 59 was just Deke on drums and M. Balmer on guitar and vocals (and bass for the demo). The tuning is way lower than the way we play things now, too. These rarities won't be up long, so if you want to have them for your personal music collection make sure to download 'em now. Stay sick! Bob
Here's the track listing for The Golden Age of Sin: 1. Let the Horror Begin
09-19-07 The recording, mixing, and mastering for our new album 'The Golden Age of Sin' is finally done. We're currently in negotiations with a label, and should have more news soon. Bottom line is, it'll definitely be out before the end of the year. In the meantime, you can at least read all the lyrics for the songs on the album by clicking here. We have a lot of shows coming up. Basically, if you live in the Cleveland area there's no reason no to see us at least once in October. We've got a couple of free shows, and we'll be playing at the world premiere of 'The Horror Convention Massacre 2' on October 26th at The Beachland Tavern. Check the shows page for more info. 08-21-07 First off, we just want to say thanks to the fine folks in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We played two shows in one day there on August 3rd, and we were made to feel at home both times. We had a blast playing for you, and it was also fun watching Grave Robber, The Lurking Corpses, and Blitzkid play. Hope we can make it out your way again. Plenty of news to report in Horror of 59 land. We have some new band photos for you to check out here. Major thanks to 252 Tattoo for letting us use their basement for the shoot, to Lacey for posing with us, and to Stephanie for taking the pics. We also played a show (well, a party, actually) with original guitar player M. Balmer. But don't feel bad if you weren't there; M. Balmer will be joining us for our gig at the Jigsaw in November. More info on that coming soon. In the meantime, we've got all kinds of other shows lined up. The big news is we'll be playing this year's Studio A Rama at Case Western Reserve University. It's an all day, outdoor concert featuring several local bands and one national act as a headliner. Admission is free, it's all ages, and you can bring pretty much anything you want as long as it's not in a glass bottle. This all takes place at the Mather Memorial Courtyard located at 11220 Bellflower Rd. Things get started at 1pm and run until midnight. More info as we get it. Later in the month we'll be off to Ypsilanti, Michigan to play a show with Mazinga and The Walking Corpses. That'll be Saturday September 29th at The Elbow Room located at 6 S. Washington Street. We'll be kicking off the Halloween season right with a free show at The Spitfire on October 6. Joining us will be fellow horror rockers The Punk Rods. The Spitfire is located at 1539 W. 117th Street in Cleveland, OH. This is a 21 and over show. On Friday October 26th come join us at The Beachland Tavern for the world premiere of 'The Horror Convention Massacre 2'. The movie starts promptly at 9pm. Once the movie is over, stick around for sets by us, Lords of the Highway, and Cult of the Psychic Fetus. This is all ages and admission is $8. The premiere of the first 'Horror Convention Massacre' back in January was sold out, so buy your tickets in advance and/or get there early. 07-06-07 Main screamer Bob Noxious here with plenty of
nauseating news for you freaks. First off, I was interviewed by Dom Coccaro
for the Associated Content website. You can check it out
here. We also added some new pictures to the "View the Dead" section from our show at Now That's Class that took place on June 23rd 2007.
Finally, we want to let all you gorehounds know that the independently
produced horror film 'Aquarius Rising' is now out, featuring Horror of 59's
"Helltown" over the closing credits. For more info visit the
Laugh at the Law
Productions website. |
